Postdoctoral Fellow-Metabolism and Diabetes-Boston University Funded postdoctoral position is available at Boston University School of Medicine. Our research interests focus on the molecular mechanism of novel signaling molecules in energy homeostasis, and diabetes and associated cardiovascular disease. Particular interests include exploring the role of AMP-activated protein kinase and NAD-dependent deacetylase, Sirtuin (SIRT1) in energy metabolism, diabetes and atherosclerosis (J Biol Chem. 2008, 283:20015; Diabetes. 2006, 55:2180; J Biol Chem. 2004, 279:47898;). The long term goals are aimed at therapeutic approaches to treat type 1 and type 2 diabetes. We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic and interactive individuals interested in dissecting the molecular mechanisms of hepatocyte energy metabolism in the development of insulin resistance, diabetes and cardiovascular complications. Successful candidates will have in-depth experience in signaling transduction, biochemistry and diabetes. Strong experience with a broad panel of molecular and cell biology (e.g. transfection and adenoviral transduction of expression or shRNA constructs) is required. Prior experience with creating transgenics, mouse handling and microscopy is preferred.
