   Four post-doctoral positions are available immediately in the Laboratory of Molecular Neurobiology and Neuroproteomics (LMNN) at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Switzerland. Biophysics (1): The applicants must have a Ph.D. degree in molecular/cellular biology or biophysics with extensive experience in cellular imaging, including live imaging, FRET/FRAP/TIRF, and related techniques. Chemical Biology (2): Applicants should have a PhD degree in Organic/bioorganic Chemistry or a closely related discipline, preferably with strong background in organic synthesis and/or peptidomimetics and protein design and synthesis Molecular/Cellular Biology (1): The applicant should have a Ph.D. degree in molecular/cellular biology with strong background in advanced molecular biology techniques (e.g. RNAi, laser capture micro dissection, genetic screens, gene expression analysis). We are looking for highly motivated individuals to work as members of an interdisciplinary group working at the interface of chemistry and biology. The candidate must have a strong skills and record of accomplishment in these areas. Good writing and communication skills are important, and the ability to be a team player and interact with several groups is a must. The candidate will benefit from working with a very dynamic and multidisciplinary group working at the interface of chemistry and biology. Research efforts in the Lashuel’s laboratory cover the following topics: (1) Elucidating the structural basis of amyloid-associated toxicity in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and Huntington’s disease; (2) Understanding the role of quaternary structure in protein function and disease with emphasis on proteins involved in neurodegenerative and inflammatory diseases; (3) developing novel chemical and physical approaches and tools to monitor and control protein misfolding and protein aggregation in vitro and in vivo; (4) developing cellular models of neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s disease; (5) developing novel therapeutic strategies based on modulating protein aggregation and clearance. (6) Exploiting amyloid fibril formation for constructing polypeptide materials with potential applications in biotechnology and medicine. Interested applicant should submit a letter of interest, curriculum vitae and the names and addresses of three references to: Prof. Hilal A.
